West Construction Ltd was established in 2019 by brothers Brad and Callum West. With a shared background in building and a strong work ethic, the goal from the start was simple — run a business that people trust and feel comfortable working with.
Since then, we’ve built a solid reputation throughout Matamata and surrounding areas for being easy to deal with, honest in our advice, and consistent in the quality of our work. Much of our business comes from referrals, which we see as a direct reflection of how we operate on and off site.
We’re a hands-on team and stay closely involved in every project we take on. That means clear communication, realistic expectations, and careful attention to detail from start to finish. Whether it’s a new build, renovation, or alteration, we approach each job with the same level of care and pride.
At West Construction, we don’t aim to be the biggest; just dependable, skilled, and known for doing things right.
Our Team
Brad West
Co-OwnerBrad has been building in Matamata since 2014 and has spent his entire career working locally. Having grown up in the area, he understands the homes, the expectations, and what clients value when taking on a building project.
Before starting West Construction Ltd, Brad worked as a foreman for a well-known local building company, gaining strong experience managing projects, people, and on-site standards. That background shows in his organised, hands-on approach and attention to detail.
Brad enjoys working closely with clients, offering practical input on their ideas to help maximise the end result. Seeing a client’s reaction at the end of a job is one of the most rewarding parts of the work for him.
Outside of building, Brad spends his time with his wife and kids and enjoys heading to the beach.
Callum has been building since 2015 and has gained a well-rounded understanding of the trade through hands-on experience from day one. Straight out of school, he worked for a local building supply company, where he developed strong knowledge of materials, products, and how different systems work together on site.
He was later picked up by a local builder to begin his apprenticeship, and once qualified, went straight into business with Brad to form West Construction Ltd.
Callum is a people person and enjoys working closely with clients, taking the time to understand what they want and putting genuine care into every job, no matter the size. He’s known for his positive attitude on site and the pride he takes in his work.
Outside of work, Callum enjoys playing golf, riding his motorbike, and working on projects around his own home.
